Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at students who have been successful in gaining a grade 6 in GCSE Music or a Distinction in BTEC Level 2 Music.


About This Course

Music Performance is an essential skill that will help form your coursework, whether in the studio recording a song or composing music using technology.

This qualification aims to give you the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in the music industry, by developing your performance and creative skill, utilising the recording and production environment.


Course Content & Assessment

The BTEC Level 3 is split into Mandatory and Optional components.  All units are coursework based with an externally assessed piece that is set by the exam board. These units will explore the use of studio equipment and mixing software with the aims to create music through recording and synthetic design.

The units are broken down as follows:

  • Studio Recording Techniques - Mandatory
  • DAW Production - Externally Assessed
  • Mixing & Mastering Techniques
  • Studio Design and Acoustics
  • Working & Developing as a Production Team
