About This Course
Applied Science provides you with the opportunity to apply your scientific learning and knowledge to practical and industry based scenarios. 
The course provides a qualification in a range of topics across biology, chemistry and physics and allows you to acquire a high level of practical laboratory skills.

Course Content & Assessment
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science is equivalent in size to three A Levels and comprises of 13 units of which 9 are practical and coursework based and 4 are externally assessed. Units taught include Astronomy, Medical Physics, Forensic Science and Physiology of the Human Body.

What could this course lead to?
The majority of our student’s progress to university in areas such as Biochemistry, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing and Forensic Science as well as traditional science subjects. 

The course has been developed by the Science Council to focus on giving students the opportunity to acquire technical and employability skills, knowledge and understanding that are transferable and will enable individuals to meet changing circumstances, whether these arise from careers in a scientific or non-scientific settings.
